BENJAMIN'S
BASKET is written by Robyn Wild and illustrated by Elizabeth
Liesellotte Cullen. Benjamin is a cat who loves his basket.
His basket is his place of
comfort and security. One day his basket disappeared. Children
and adults alike will be able to associate with Benjamin's
longing for his old familiar basket and the insecurity and
distress he felt at losing it.
Parents and
teachers will find BENJAMIN'S BASKET an excellent book to
launch discussions with young children about the sharing of
feelings, empathy for others, and dealing with frustrations and
anger without resorting to violence.
BENJAMIN'S
BASKET appeals to that part of all of us that wants to
hold on to old and familiar things. The story also teaches children that we should respect the value of
others and try not to impose our wishes on them.
